H2 Shopping - Need Your Expert Advice
 

Hi Everyone,

I'm shopping for my first H2 (noob!) for purchase in September. There is a pretty good selection in my area (Southern Ontario Canada) from 03's through 07's. Km's and prices range from about $14,000 up to $20,000 and 140,000km's to 222,000km's.

My budget is about $20,000 and I am hoping you good folks could give me some advice with regards to what to look for while shopping/test driving (potential problems etc...) and what are reasonable KM's for an asking price.

Any help is sincerely appreciated and I look forward to my new H2 ride!

Buy the newest lowest mile one you can afford & pay for it to be inspected by a mechanic you trust. A few things to Check...exhaust manifold bolts, heater control lights, air suspension if it has adventure package,hub bearings...I'm sure others will chime in...Good Luck in your search!

Thanks Caraddict...I will be taking a freind who is a truck mechanic with me to check out potential H2's....from reading posts on the forum I am getting an idea of what to look for and what the common issues. I am definitely asking each seller if I can have it inspected before laying down the cash. I have my eye on a 2005 for $15,000 but it has 198,000km's on it which worries me. I wanna enjoy my H2 for many years to come and (if I can avoid it) not have a major repair shortly after purchase. :)

Also check that the blend door is working on the heat/ac...could be very expensive to fix...I always like to bring a scanner with me to see if the monitors are set for emissions or if there are any pending codes...if the monitors are not set it tells me someone cleared a check engine light.

OUCH! His prices are steep!:eek: I bought my 06 3 years ago with 22,000 miles in showroom condition and paid less then he's asking for his 06 with the same miles...every hummer on that link seems priced over retail.:confused: sure they have low miles but holy cow the prices are WAY over retal...

Those prices are 3-4times the local prices in my area.
