H2-Extra Electric Fan

Hi all!!!

Plan to put this electric fan in front of the radiator. Anybody did this before? Plz share....;)

If your keeping your mechanical fan and just adding that for xtra cooling, especially in traffic that's a great idea. let us know how that works out.

Still doin research on how to. Will update. Can I use 2008 H2 fan+shroud for my 04? Or is there any compatibility parts from other GM truck? If so,which truck model?

Contacted local parts dealer and 08 H2 FAN AND SHROUD available and I might replace my mechanical fan with it.i'm not towing so I guess it will be no issue

I have few question,
How to wire it? Assume that the ready made harness not available. perhaps DIY.? iT;s hard to find those aftermarket harness here in DUBAI

3 Attachment(s)
Finally i get everythings done,EXTRA FAN KIT and MECHANICAL FAN TO ELECTRICAL FAN conversion.

For the EXTRA FAN I use 7'' size fan and it placed as a PUSH Fan. It was wired with a manual "ON OFF" Switch.

For the ELECTRICAL FAN conversion,I use 08 HUMMER electrical fan kit. It comes with shroud, fan and motor. For the installation it is direct fit and the only modification made is to the oil tubing to the cooler which it is have to be cut and connected with FUEL HOSE.

How did you wire up the 08 H2 fans? Aftermarket thermostat and relays??

S Reynold Gudam 10-22-2013 12:36 PM

Sorry for the late reply!!!

At the moment,I ;m wired it to the battery with relay so it means whenever i turn the key on,the fan will run at full speed. I will find a thermostat and control module later.

I see. You can install an aftermarket thermostat with a probe that inserts through the fins of the radiator. You can adjust when the fan kicks on and off.

I've always wanted to do this and you made it look easy!

When I did my dual electric fans it had a thermo just like LoJac963 said. it just slid into the fins of the radiator near the upper intake hose. There was also the option of drilling and tapping the neck of the radiator and installing a permanent one but I didn't want to risk drilling any holes in a new radiator. there was also another part of the harness that wired in under the fuse box that turned the fans on when you turned on the a/c. I believe you can just buy the wiring harness from one of the companies that sell aftermarket electric fans..then it wont be running full blast all the time. I still miss my fans and if I ever get rid of the travel trailer that's the first thing to go back in. the mechanical ones sure are loud.

Well, its hard to find the aftermarket parts for H2 right here in Dubai, will never try to stop searching thou hehe... Thanks for the sharing and I believe somewhere out there I can transplant the themo and control module from other GM truck if i couldnt find the aftermarket.
