H2 dip stick reads high, any help?

Hey guys, I bought an 07 H2 with the rear air suspension and have noticed that after an oil change the dip stick reads high even with 5.5 qts and not 6qts.

I am no stranger to oil changes and have been doing them to all of my cars for almost 15 years. I let the H2 sit over night in my level garage, drained the oil out until it's a broken uber thin drip string then put the plug back in. I then added 5.5qts of oil and fired it up. I then let it sit at least 15 minutes and checked it and noticed that the stick read what looked like a 1/4 of a qt overfull. I then let it sit over night again and checked it in the morning, again still looks like it's a 1/4 of a qt overfull, WTF? I don't get it. Is there something that's holding a 1/4 to a 1/2 qt of old oil? Does the air-ride in the back mess the leveling up or anything I need to do with it to get the right dipstick reading? Or is the stick itself faulty on these?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Oil inside the block/engine.

Right but that much even after sitting for 12+ hours?

Yea my last 4x4 was a lot like that. I'd put 6 pts. in and it would read 5.5 or 6.5 approx.

So what extra steps are you guys taking with these to get all of the oil out beyond just letting the H2 sit for 10 hours and letting it drain for say 30 minutes? Or is it the dipstick itself and I should just add 6qts and call it a day? hate to do that though.

yep,if the book says 5.5 with a fresh filter, you're done.
