I have had my 2003 H2 for about 6 months and yeterday my check engine light came on. I also noticed that my oil life is down around 25%. My questionis does the check engine light come on when the oil life precentage gets below a certain number or should I have someone check out the H2 for other problems?

 

your oil life has nothing to do with the check engine light. there are many other reasons for it to come on, but you need to be able to read the DTC to know why it's on. i'd say take it to the dealer to have it checked out.

 

Most common reason is the gas cap may not be on properly.

Other than that, mine occasionally goes on for like a day every 6-7 months, then just goes out. My service advisor told me if the vehicle FEELS the same when light is on, not to worry about it????[:@]

 

there are instances where after a number of ignition cycles with no error code the light will go out on its own (knock sensor, some others), but if it's staying on, even if it doesn't feel different, it's a good idea to have it checked out
