And of course in true Hummer owner fashion, I headed STRAIGHT for the mud.

Let me preface this with: This was complete driver stupidity and was no fault of the tires

Oh and it was 28* outside, all I had was a t-shirt and that light jacket because of course I didn't PLAN on spending much time out of the truck today *face palm*

This was at the Saline River underneath I-30, and I was driving through a path I've done 50 times.....

There's two ruts on each side that I was well aware of, and a high hard packed mound in the middle. I've straddled it before in my 3 in Wranglers and my T with worn out Duelers and never had problems. But now that it's under water and is soft, someone must have gone through with a Jeep on 35's and dug it out. I didn't even stand a chance, as soon as I got in all 4 tires were off the ground.

But anyways, I really like the tires. I did have the Duelers on before, and they had 79,000 miles on them. I don't know if it's cause those tires were really worn out or what, but the S/T Maxx's seem stiffer. They look a lot bigger too, but I'm thinking that's cause these actually have tread still on them.

That would have been fun if I had run down that way. I was servicing my generators after running them for four days. You got power?
How did you like the tires in the snow and on ice? I really like the traction I had taking my wife to work out 440 on all the bridges. I was running 25 psi in mine.

Haha yep, right behind you in that pic! I just got the tires yesterday so most of the snow was already gone. The time I had to play around was spent sitting in that water waiting on help, then had to help my parents with some stuff. Hopefully soon I'll be able to head out again soon. The river was pretty high though, most of the area was submerged.

I like your black hood, and a winch would have been real nice yesterday haha

And yeah I never even lost power. Where I'm at most of the lines are buried.

I always let the guy that is submerged wade over to get the cable, I would have run down there if you called, what an excuse to quit cutting limbs!

Update on the tires:

my first full tank with the new tires I averaged 15.1 mpg. This is far below my 17.5-18.0 mpg average I had been getting with the worn out Duelers. My second tank I averaged 15.8. My driving style and destinations have not changed at all. I'm hoping it's just the new tires breaking in, and I can get a little better mpg than I currently am.

Is your T an adventure? If not, it came with a 265 and your BCM will be calculating the actual mileage driven with those 265s in mind.

You will need to calculate the percentage difference of the old tires vs the new tires. Also not all 285s are the same in terms of revolutions per mile.

Yes it does! I have the frog eye OEM lights and I think I can force them up a little more.

I know my Duelers were probably like 3/32, but could new tread that is 19/32 make this big of a difference? I would understand going from a 265 to a 315 where it's about a 3" height difference, but a 1" difference cutting down 2.5 mpg?

I was thinking maybe a tough 3-ply tire like this takes a break-in time the same way speakers do. Thought maybe it could be creating a lot of rolling resistance? But then I thought going to the extreme of having a soft tire such as being deflated to 15 psi, the mpg would be horrible, so I figured a harder tire would be better. But I dunno, maybe a sweet balance in between....
