so my rack is starting to show its age theres rust areas showing and its that time. so i was wondering what to re-coat it with. i was thinking of rhino lining or line x but they dont sell cans. im not going to drive to a shop and leave the rack there and go pick it up and re-install it once there done and then drive home.

i was wondering what people have done to re-coat there rusting parts. brush guards / racks etc. i would really like to use some sort of bed liner material i know it would look much better and last longer than any of the factory finishes. open to any suggestions

 

My stealth rack has held up pretty well but there is some surface rust at the mounting brackets where they 90. Mostly because water will just sit there until it evaporates.


I was thinking about taking mine off and having it Line-X'ed along with a ton of other stuff for my rig. It's not high on my priority list right this minute though.


If the spots are small enough just clean then up really well and spray them with low-gloss black paint which is a pretty close match to what GOBI uses.

 

unfortunately its not that minor. the worst area is under the lights everytime i open the sunroof i get rust particles in. my mounting brackets are rusty also.

i was reading up some reviews on different sprays to use. apparently the Rustoleum spray can bed liner is pretty well known. i might be giving it a shot

You have to buy the sprayer for it and I guess it cleans up with acetone so probably a big jug of that as well. Supposed to be pretty good stuff.
