gear ratio change 4.56 or 4.88 for 37s
I know this has been answered before and I know how to figure out ratio to tires size. But I just want to know from any one thats made the changes how does it drive and which is better 4 37s (on a 4 inch lift) 4.56 or 4.88s... its on an 03 stock with 4.10s
Thanks |
I have 4.88 on 38s, with Rancho 4inch lift. I also bought a Superchip programmer and re-programmed my H2. Running great so far.

Do you know if there were any carrier changes made or shaveing housings back or were the 4.88s a straight drop in set up
|
I believe it's a straight drop in set up. Otherwise, my mechanic would have said something.

I recently put 4.88's in mine with a 4" Rancho and 40" Toyo MT's. The Speedo calibration seems right on. I didn't have to modify anything. The front carrier is kind of a bitch to pull out with the Rancho lift. I'm planning on 4.56's for my wife's with 37's with no lift. I think that keeps it pretty close to stock.

Are all h2's gears 4.10 stock?
|
2003 to 2008 all had 4.10
2008 had an option for 3.73 2009 had the 3.73 |
wish I could get mine regeared to 4.53 or 4.88 but the only place around here who will do it, the old Hummer dealer quoted almost 3k for parts and labor, he said that includes the "GM Master" kits or whatever to completely rebuild the front/rear and it comes with 12mo. warranty.
