Fuel Door - Different Types
2 Attachment(s)
My fuel (gas) door looks tatty however it looks different to others I've seen, the addition of the chrome bar suggests its been modified to change the lock, there are also no screws around the outer edge.
Will the type with 6-off exposed screws replace mine which has none? Any comments very much appreciated. |
I'm not sure. You'd have to pull yours off and look at the back to see how its mounted. Why don't you just refinish that one you have, get it looking new again for the cost of a rattle can of whatever. I used wrinkle coat on my stock cap and it still looks like the day I sprayed it.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Actually I've seen yours and it looks great! Here in the UK there are not many Hummers so it was my intention to restore my H2 to its original factory condition and make it a "collectable" Re-chroming aluminium/alloy in the EU is an issue because certain chemicals are banned, so wheels, fuel door are big problems. Its a challenge! Don't know why the fuel door is so different? |
My fuel (gas cap) door is corroded too.
Where can you buy a replacement? Mine has six screws (corroded too) Did u ever fix yours? Oceanbrave? |
Indeed I did. I managed to buy by chance 2 brand new OEM doors.
One was exactly the same (3 brackets) however the other has only 2 mounting brackets (my previous photo shows 3) but it comes with brackets, lock and keys. It might be a H3 fitting I'm not sure anyway its is available at a good price if I you want it bearing in mind I'm in the UK. |
