Front end squeak/chirp when going over bumps

2006 H2. I pulled off the the skid plate and its still there. Wheel bearings seem ok. Its only on the passenger side. I've searched some and don't think its a body mount, seems more suspension related idk. Anyone else experience and fix this? Would like to know before trying to replace everything lol Thanks!!

Bad ball joints can sound like that.

This ^
I would try greasing them if you haven't already (and the rest of the front end while your at it)

Piranha 12-11-2014 02:53 PM

Thanks guys! Ball joints are good and were lubed up, it still didn't help :( I also checked sway bar bushings and they are good, hmm maybe the shock or control arm bushing idk Any other ideas?

H2Miami 12-11-2014 08:41 PM

If the noise is like a wewewe then 99% is the sway bar bushings .
Got crazy with that noise and ne guy from the tire shop told me about the sway bar
Fix it with this kit ( 03 09 Hummer 2 H2 Heavy Duty Extended 1" Sway Bar End Links Mounting Bushings | eBay)
So happy the wewewe isnt there anymore

body mounts

I just installed all new OEM body mounts in my 03 H2. My banging and noise from front end are now gone and truck rides much better.

LoJac963 12-18-2014 05:58 PM

My squeaks initially came from the rear lower control arms. Replaced them with aftermarkets with grease zerks and the problem went away.

Now my fuel tank squeaks like crazy, hoping to drop the tank so I can see where the hell the noise is coming from.

The more I think about it, I'm suspecting a body mount... for those who have replaced them, did you do it yourself, or have the dealer do it? If its it DYI, could I get a little write up please :) Thanks!!

I got it done at dealer. I don't have a lift to do it myself. I tried to find places to do it for me besides dealer but couldn't. Happy with the results though.

Sway bar bushings changed ..Road trip 1400 miles and no noise then suddenly the noise came back even worse
now it sound like 2000 squirrels are under the truck
I would grease the sway bushings , if not results then replace the mounts, next step the whole freaking front end ...
NOW I HATE SQUIRRELS

Piranha 12-26-2014 10:12 AM

Thanks for the help guys... yeah I have a lift, but 6k+ pounds makes me a little nervous. I hate to go to the dealer, but might price it there at least. How much did they charge? Squirrels lol

Charged me 1000.00 just for the 10 body mounts (found non OEM online for half that price) but wanted OEM. 6 hrs of labor, I think it should have only taken 3 hrs but as I've stated I couldn't find anyone else to do this for me. Total cost $1700

H2Miami 12-26-2014 10:58 PM

$1700 . Wow thats a lot of money . May be worth it if solve the problem ..
Now the question is how long will.it last . I got the squirrels on my around 70000 miles .

Maybe an aftermarket will last longer .

Does any one knows

The pictures of the after market ones didn't look as strong or as big. I have to hope the oem's were made better after there were so many hummers that needed new ones while still under warranty. My 05 truck doesn't make the noises yet so that's 9 years so far and going well. My 03 was the truck that needed the new ones so maybe the life of the body mounts last about 10-11 years.

Fixed... sprayed a little WD on control arm bushings and squeak is gone.. Bushings look fine and everything is tight, hopefully thats all that was needed :)

H2Miami 01-19-2015 07:45 AM

W40 . Easy and cheap fix
just make sure the W40 won't dry or damage the bushing
I would look for a silicone lubricant if needed often

Man1nboat 01-19-2015 08:28 AM

Not that you mention it I am going to lube my rig today...

Piranha 01-19-2015 09:10 AM

Sorry should have been more specific, WD silicone spray was used :)

Not the only reason to move down to South Fla....:)

Sure it's not the gas tank? Mine sounds horrible with the squeaking at low speeds and going over bumps. I haven't had time to drop the tank just yet but I'm curious to see what the hell is causing the noise. I know its the tank because I went under it and started banging on things. The tank was the culprit.

I had a severe case of the creaks whenever I turned left or right or went over bumps.
At first I went over 4 to 6 joints in the front end with WD-40. There was little improvement so I considered taking it to the dealer. The next day I decided to go over everything and I mean everything. I got on my back under the H3 and discovered joints I had missed under the front end.
Upon standing and looking down between the tires and wheel wells I sprayed the shock joints bottom and upward toward the tops even though i could not visibly see the joints. I found other joints in the area too. Next I took care of the rear shocks (even up into all of the shock covers) and even the leaf supports and any and all else. I am here to say all creaks and squeeks are GONE and I am glad I did not give up after the first try.
