Default Flashpaq Settings

I just picked up a Superchips Flashpaq off of CL, great deal. I have done several searches on here and CHOR and see scattered comments and it looks like a couple people have had the tuner for a couple of years.

What is the best setting for the Alpha? 87 Octane?

Sorry, i should have been more clear. My truck is stock other than a high flow filter (Airdoc coming soon). I am looking for more power and better throttle response- better gas mileage would be nice but not necessary.

Thanks for the links, I had read them but was wondering if anyone came up with their favorite since they seemed to still be testing the options.

OK, thanks for that clarification. All I can speak for is what I prefer for myself. I have the Superchips Cortex (same as your Flashpaq but it can ture multiple GM vehicles).

I personally run the tow tune. I have found it gives ME the best all around tune for city/highway. I have tried every tune and even made a few "tweaks" with the advanced tune options and I have always come back to the tow tune.

I know Hunner has one also on his Alpha. Hope he pops up here soon.

POP!
I posted that somewhere already so you might have seen it, but I can still remember some things ha ha
I ran premium in my 08 Alpha for a couple of tanks while my Flashpaq was on order. So I slapped in the preset performance first thing. It was crazy more power to me. I did not really want that or having to run premium. So sporting about for the tank I could bark the tires in low speed turns and coming out of driveways.
I filled up with mid grade and tried that with the tow tune and that seemed to be good for towing and just driving around with the weight I carry most of the time. I average 6000 lbs on trips. I tow a boat or a work trailer that both weigh about 3500 lbs each.
I gradually weened it to regular 87 octane and it's happy and I'm happy. I have no accurate mileage check but on some 17 hour interstate trips it was about 16 driving 70.
I run my own design intake tube and a paper element. Sometimes I run a K&N on highway trips but lately have just left in the paper one. I don't run the K&N in dusty offroad conditions. I do have a snorkle and run a pre-filter on that and it makes a big difference on how long a paper element lasts on rural and forest service gravel and dirt roads.
I had the early PCM tune on my I-5 not really for more power but enough and torque and helping to prevent lots of downshifting.
Same thing with the Alpha that has ended up being heavier for several reasons besides being an Alpha. However the power increase to me is drastically different than just a pcm tune was on the I-5 proportionally.
Good stuff

This thing has a 20,000k generator, a 4000 psi powerwasher and huge air compressor that the jugs stick out the roof, plus all the crap for those. I have since had a metal cover made for up there. Then all my painting and sandblasting supplies.
With the Alpha and tow mode I can haul this stuff in the mountains around here to 3 different lakes, all up hill!

And I' m with TAINTER . I played around with all three and came back to the tow. I average 14.8 to 16.2 mpg.

Update: two days with the 87 octane setting. I like the better throttle response and drive-ability. No more searching for gears on long uphills and it definitely feels like it pulls stronger. No change in MPG, maybe even a little worse (based on my scangauge).

I am going to try the tow setting and post again.

No worries, I just realized that tow requires 91 and was going to ask the same question.
