Default extended warranty

Thinking of buying a extended warraty that is offered through my credit union for around $1000 I can get a extra 4 years and 60k miles. Any input? The company is called members choice.

Never heard of them personally but was quoted I think $3,295 to take mine up to 7/72, another 3 years and roughly 28K miles from where I am at now. I opted not to for now but had the price been better ....

extended warranties are definitely the way to go. i bought mine through GM for around $2700 at 34k miles. i have 64k now and the warranty has already paid for itself twice. front diff., both upper control arms, a/c compressor, both mirrors and many other smaller items. i'd do a little research on the warranty company before going with an independent company, but i know there are some good ones out there. i'd say go for it.

Definitely agree with ya there Shorty ... Sounds like you got a hell of a better deal than I was offered through GM :/ 44K miles on mine and they wanted $3,295 for less than 30K miles and 3 years!? Sounds rather high to me. Hell, my OLD SRT-10 was cheaper to extend the warranty on, it was $2,100 for 3/36K I believe. I take it yours was bumper to bumper coverage!? I wonder what a drive train only would run ..

i was still under factory warranty when i bought mine, but i went with 4 yrs/ 60k miles, so i'm good for another 30k. bumper to bumper with a $100 deductible. i've learned that unless it's a drivability issue to wait until i have 2 or more repairs to have fixed. that way i only pay the deductible once for all the repairs. i had a front hub assembly replaced by an alignment shop, mailed the invoice to GM and they sent me the balance, less my deductible, no questions asked.

extended warranty is such a great idea. just had an axle seal and tranny to transfer case seal replaced, they even waived the deductible because they missed the axle seal last time i was in.

If I didn't lease my vehicles and turn them in before the warrenty was up, I would most definately do it.

Shorty...

With so many repairs, what year is your H2; i.e., are there maybe some years which are more 'repair prone' than others? I'm currently considering a pre-owned '04 or an '05, but I've also found some '03 models for substantially less money. Thanks.

mine's an '03, number 680 or close to that. i use it for what it was intended, so perhaps i go through parts a bit more often than some others. a friend of mine has an'03 as well, and hasn't had any major repairs done to it. i've got 64k miles on mine though, his is just over 36k. a lot of my repairs have been for the same thing as well, the recent axle work was on the 3rd front diff in the truck.
