Entering GPS addresses while moving

I have an 2006 H2 with GPS.It is impossibleto add an address or look up a POI once thecar is moving. Does anyone know how to disable this lock-out feature?
Also is it possible to recieve Vorizon cell calls on the Onstar without going through Onstar?

RE: Entering GPS addresses while moving

The nav system must receive speed info from the pcm. If its in the form of packets over the obdII bus, then not much can be done, as I think the nav system checks the vin number that way for security. If its just a wire with speed data one it (pulses, voltage, etc) then it could be disconnected. There might be some other hack (button combo, etc), but I dont know of one.

I agree, its a pia, but its gm covering their ass. did you read the owners manual? About 1/2 of it is warnings about every stupid thing you can think of.

You do realize the reason for why it's there right!? LOL!
Maybe ImportKiller has some advice for us here .. Impy!? Any bypass modules available for the H2's from for example logjam or PAC that you know of!? I had one (PAC I believe) on my Alpine aftermarket back in the day to disable this feature on the NAV and also allow DVD's played up front while moving ... A must have in my opinion but could see how it could become a safety issue for some people ...

RE: Entering GPS addresses while moving

Is this navigation bypass only good for the H2, or will it work with the H3 NAV system as well?

RE: Entering GPS addresses while moving

Yes, thank you kindly. [sm=thanx.gif]I'm trying to figure out what "goodies" I will want for the factory NAV system I am going to install. The unit you mentioned has most of the features I am after, except that it only has 1 auxilary video input usally for a backup camera, which I will be installing. PAC make a similar unit that has 2 video inputs, but does not have the ability to unlock the address input restriction. I guess I need to figure out which features are most important before deciding. Information here has been very helpful.

Hey IK,

Where can I get a GM navigation bypass??

RE: Entering GPS addresses while moving

LHB...I believe you can hook up an additional video switcher that will connect to the one input of the navigation unlock module and wil give you 2 or 3 video inputs. You will just have a switch that you put into position a,b,c to select which device is to be viewed. The nav. unlock module will always play whatever feed it gets into the one video input, the switcher will just decide what unit is actually sending a signal to that line.

you can buy them here...they don't have hummer's listed but they will work.
