Default engine clattering.....?

Hey yall I was wondering what was up with tmy engine clattering. As I hit the gas slightly I hear the motor ping a little bit as if it were low on oil or something. I can press the gas and release then hit it and hear it almost everytime. I have not called the dealer yet just wanted some insight on this first fromthe pros here...Thanks guys let me know....

Where do you buy your gas, and what octane are you buying? Try a name brand gas, like Sell or Chevron if you aren't already and the 87 octane (regular) would be fine. Give it a tank of that, and if the problem goes away, then it was poor quality gas and continue buying from a better source. If it doesn't, see the dealer.

I concur...But for right now, put as much of a higher octane you can get in the tank to bring up the octane.

Contact your dealer it is a valve problem. Put your H3 in gear and your left foot on the brake and slowly push the gas pedel under load you will hear it as well do this for your local Hummer dealer.

I just saw this so if you already had it looked at just ignore me. I had the same thing around 2,300-2.500 RPM I took it in and the mechanic told me that they have been having a lot of complaints about it. He said that the noise is the result of a balance shaft issue but doesn't present any durability risks to the engine. He also said that I will need a software update when it comes out. It is only supposed to be on those manufactured before 3/1/2006
