Yep, the price may be outrageous, but good luck finding a brand new set anywhere.
With something like this the guy can set his own price.
Somebody will pay for them.

 

I'm sorry but you'd have to be absolutely insane to pay that much for U's.

I bought a set of 4 from ebay a while back for $272 shipped. I had another pair or red powdercoated steps I got off craigs for dirt cheap also.

I had them chemically stripped and repowdercoated which ran me less than $200 and they looked brand new after. Sure it was a pain running all over town dropping them off, picking them up, dropping at the PC shop, picking up.....yadda yadda but saved me a ton of cash.
