The question is still on the table though... is the ring gear, pinion, etc...the same on the new unit?

For those in Houston, I was just at McGinnis Hummer getting my plates and they said they are getting an 08' Alpha H3 today (Red).

I test drove an H3 Alpha today and it feels so much better to have the V8. The dealer i went to is having an alpha with a locking rear diff. come in next week. [sm=shades.gif]

Went to dealer today to pick H3 up from service. We saw the new Alpha but geez what does this one have that the '07 H3 doesn't? The sticker was 40k and I didn't see any bling to account for the huge price difference other than the v8.....

From what i have notice the "Alpha package" includes leather seats and all of the other nice stuff plus the V8. It looks to be pretty much the luxury package with a V8. Theknow of an alpha whichis 41,975 has black leather, power seats, the extra airbags, sunroof, xm radio, 6 disc cd changer, home remote, monsoon sound system, trailering equipment, and the "offroad suspension" (which includes the locking rear diff).

Yea, really the Alpha is just a I-5 Luxury Package H3 with the V8 and the "Alpha" badging on the steering wheel and headrests. No need to buy an Alpha if your happy with your I-5 engine. You STILL have to pay extra to add the Adventure package to the Alpha which I think is a crock. Alpha is supposed to mean the "top dog" of this line of trucks and IMO it should be loaded with everything they offer.

I figure if I am going to pay that for a Hummer I will go ahead and buy the big boy H2.
I really like my H3 as it is, not a huge fan of leather living in Texas. Now I wouldn't mind having the Luxury package minus leather and dvd/gps ... oh and minus the s----- word.... hehehehe
