Drilling into the body, how to prevent rust??
I'm curious how one can prevent any body panels from rusting after drilling into them. So for instance the E&G fender flares. The front isn't a big deal because the hood is fiberglass but the rear flares have to be drilled into the metal body.
I didn't know if just clear silicone all over the screw threads before screwing them in would suffice? Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |
The previous owner of my H2 had huge air horns mounted to the top of the roof. They were removed and the holes filled with clear silicone. No detectable traces of rust. Clear silicone is great at sealing up clean services. That is what I would use.

Sounds good, thanks!

I would paint the bare metal with a small brush from a bottle of touch up paint, either body color or clear. Then after it dries I would use clear silicone as well.
