Does the H3 chew up tires with the F/T 4WD?
Does the H3 chew up tires with the F/T 4WD? I am seriously considering purchasing an '09, but I had no idea that they were AWD. Where they always F/T 4WD?
Sorry for the rookie question, and thanks in advance for the input. |
AWD and 4WD are not interchangeable terms. The H3 is FT AWD, and the T Case can lock into 4X4.
To answer your question about chewing up tires..... No they do not where out tires any quicker than any other 5000# truck. However, they do have an extremely tight turning radius (better then many foreign chit shakers) for off roading and if you always turn the wheels to full lock turns in parking lots etc. you will put extra wear on the fronts. That is what tire rotations are for. |
Thank you Doc!!! :-)

I bought an 06 with 32000 miles on it. At the time the tires appeared to be the original. I have since put 16000 miles on it and I still have a fair amount of tread left on the Wrangler RTS's. 2/3 of the 16000 are highway miles. I do not play in the dirt much, at least not enough to tear up my daily driver. Personally, I love the vehicle and love the fact that is it AWD.

I noticed that when you lock up the differentials using button 2 or 3 that the tires chatter in cornering. I don't think this is a good mode for tire wear.
