Doberman or Bulldog?
I haven't had experiences with either breed. My cocker passed away on July 4th and I'm ready for another buddy. I've read a little about each breed but I don't think it's the same as getting information from someone who has had first hand experience with them. Any suggestions??

Do not get a doberman if you rent a place. You or the dog will get kicked out due to insurance reasons. So I hope you own a house

I own. Are they that active?? I have TONS of space for a doberman to run so that's OK. I have an invisible containment. My cocker would test the fence EVERY day. I finally shut it off because I was afraid he'd hurt himself. Do you know how well a doberman would behave in an invisiable fence - or are they strong enough that they'd just power through it anyway? That's my other concern...

Sorry bout the cocker....2 different breeds u looking at...we have a dalmation and a boxer....but always like dobermans, met a few..invisible fence not sure, aparantly they work on most dogs, but not a boxer...we have concrete & iron fence...Id go for doberman x 2:D and get running...enjoy:)

concrete and iron...holy crap! I'm a little worried about the bulldog's ability to climb in the truck with me or keep up with my busy life but they are so darn CUTE! I guess I would like a dog with protective instincts too so I am leaning towards the doberman (and a good training school). I'm not sure I could handle 2 pups at the same time and I wonder how well they would get along...?

I grew up with a Doberman and a Boxer!!! Loved them both. Mine loved the kids and would protect our family at all costs.

We have two Great Danes. I wouldn't recommend them to most people but I wouldn't have anything else. They have too short of a life. I had West Highland White Terriers for over 30 years (total of 4 Westies) and they are hard to beat.
If you go for a Bulldog, choose it carefully. They have a lot of issues. infections in those skin folds and all kinds of things that seem to have bred into the Bulldog. It's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all. |
Bullies are awsome....raised all types of Bulldogs my entire life...
