I think the word you're struggling to find Nick is, BLIND FAITH...

I think God in all his infinate wisdom gave us mortal people the ability to think and reason (at least most of us)..In doing so, He gave us the intelligence to ASK questions and to SEEK answers to what, where, how, when and why things are the way they are....Ultimately that sort of mental capacity puts us on top of the food chain in this wild kingdom of His..

Mikey..if we evolved from primates..why are there still primates?

Good book to read is called.."The Naked Ape"...follow that one with "The speed of a Stripped-*** Ape"

Hun I believe becauseI make the decision to believe, not because someone told me I should, or I THINK I should...and yes IDO question many things in all aspects of life, (including on here LOL!) I am on a constant quest for knowledge. I have never been a crowd pleaser/follower, nor am I a fence sitter. I think you can glean from my posts that I don't have a problem communicating or saying what's on my mind, which often makes me a tad unpopular or disliked LOL. (I do sometimes refrain from saying what's really <harshly>on my mind lol - meaning I have often thought of ripping someone "a new one" on occasion... But, that being said, I also sometimes like to use my better judgment as to what or how I phrase that which is on my mind. I think the jest of what I said earlier was that we are all entitled to our thoughts, opinions, and beliefs and it doesn't make anyone any better/lessor than another. (Unless of course one is a psychotic sociopath (_(_)hole LOL)

Blind faith in my opinion is no different thant dismissal before contemplation, ie ignorance or narrowmindedness. This obviously not limited to religion but all aspects of life ... If you can't be critical towards your own beliefs and disect them then in my opinion that person is not very secure in their thought process nor in their beliefs. The paradox here is it shows doubt, yet it's blind faith ... it's a contradiction of itself ...

I don't recall the exact texthere but Jean Baudrillard has a very interesting view of religion and the inherit symbolism thatit includes. I'll have to see if I can't get that typed up when I get home tonight. It's rather provocative but even my bible thumping mother in law raised an eyebrow in "wow"reading it, and that's saying something considering how she is (zero tolerance). I'm guessing JM may have heard of him being a Frenchy and all :-)

Not trying to offend anyone by that statement or label anyone, just my opinion on the matter.

Don't take what I said personally, it was not directed to you as a person but more as a concept. I guess ya'll should be aware that I don't take anything in these debates personal nor do I intend for anyone else to do so when it comes to my opinions. I totally understand what you mean and Den I think put it better than I did with his blind faith comment, which is ultimately what I have a problem with I guess.
I d@mn well know you're not a crowd pleaser .. I can smell my own kind :-) And your thoughts on the matter are very much along the lines of my own so please, if you felt I singled you out by that remarkaccept myapology, that was by no means my intention.

Spontaneous mutation within the gene pool millions and millionsof years ago. Still happens on a daily basis but we call them "birth defects" these days.
Evolution is very much alive and around us ... to deny evolutions existanceis to deny the very world you live in my friend .. we now have technology to aid us in said evolution but Den, it's still very much there ... and as long as time itself exists (another BS subject in my opinion lol)so will evolution ... if it didn't we as humans would not progress at all ...

Oh no sugar, I did not feel offended, sensitive or singled out by you. I was merely contributing to the debate. I understand both sides of the coin here.
