I need to properly remove the center console cover that covers the radio, a/c, heater, defroster etc. due to a rattle somewhere underneath that is driving me crazy. Can anyone give me exact instructions of its removal? I do not want to try it blindly and damage anything. Thank you

 

Ok first thing is open the center console compartment. Take the screws out surrounding the outer edge. Pull out the console insert. The shifter is held in place by a bolt in the front part of the handle. You need a hex key to get the bolt out. Once the shifter has been removed, carefully I mean CAREFULLY pull up on the cup holder piece. Be very careful to not lose the clips, they are not available from GM. Once that is out of the way there are bolts that hold the console to a bracket on the floor. There are also 2 bolts towards the front of the console. Slide the console back a bit the take the hex bolts out of the panel that surrounds the radio. Disconnect the 3 power outlets and pull out on the panel. Its not super detailed but its actually alot easier than it sounds.

 

Great directions. Easy to understand. But I am curious how or where the clips might go in order to lose them?
