DIC: Oil Pressure Low at Idle
2006 H2, 113K miles. DIC indicated Low Oil Pressure at idle. No engine noise, seems to run fine. Happens only at idle. Pressure gage rises correctly while accelerating, at steady speeds oil pressure steady no drops. At idle oil pressure drops normally and stays steady. Had sensor replaced, had manual oil pressure checked all ok, had oil pump replaced by dealer. Dealer installed new computer and still shows oil pressure low at idle. All electric was checked. Dealer says they cannot find the problem. Dealer wants me to replace the motor. I do not think I need a new engine. Has any one had this issue?

im a h3 guy,,was ford man.
gm used to say 10 lbs/1000 rpm i thought 10 at idle was scary but i have a 3.8 pontiac that dips at idle, still runnin at 127000 what IS your reading? ps, at least u got a gage! |
At idle it sits right 10 psi. I picked it up from the dealer this morning and now DIC will not turn off "Oil preesure low" even at 70 mph

What are they charging you on a new motor?
|
$7500.00 for new motor

To me this sounds kind of funny. Are they true technicians?
|
You should try disconnecting the battery and leave it for a minute and then reconnect it. Doing that deletes everything in the Kam memory. Drive it for couple miles to see if "oil pressure low" will appear on the screen. What kind of oil are you using? Fully synthetic? Regular?
|
The technicians are true to GM, ASE Cert and all of that. I have disconnected the battery no luck. I have replaced the battery. I have used 5w30 and 10w30 and today tried 20w50 again with no luck.

Are u using synthetic or regular?

Wow this is so interesting I will certainly look into this. If you find the problem before me let me know what it was.
I gonna take another guess. Maybe there is some type of restriction somewhere which is causing the low pressure and when you start picking up speed the pressure starts to build up again. If the dealer checked it on the manual guage and it came up to be good i see no problem there. Did they change the wires and the connectors while changing the computer and the sensors? |
