Dennis, installed the lower grill cover today

I made some flush mount 3" fog lights and cut holes in the grill cover, then cut holes in the stock plastic grill and mounted and wired everything up. Looks completely different but having the lights flush mounted makes it look as clean as if it were a factory option. Now I just have to clean everything up....hold on tight Dennis.....the truck is filthy in the pics..

That looks fantastic Mike, nice job...You are quite the craftsman..I'm impressed.[sm=smiley20.gif]

And yes, the big grille is a little disgusting[:'(]

That's pretty cool! There were supposed to be some lights there as an option, but they never became a reality. They were little rectangle ones, but I like your round ones better.

Thanks guys, here aer a few pics I just took with all the lights on. Only downside to the install are that flush mounted lights are not adjustable, no problem for me but it's gonna suck to be the honda civic in front of me;):D:D

RE: Dennis, installed the lower grill cover today

How did you mount them in the grill?

importkiller 07-15-2006 11:39 AM

RE: Dennis, installed the lower grill cover today

well, kinda hard to explain but I will try. First I had to take a regular fog light apart and reassemble it so that the only thing that was there was the lens, light basket and the front plastic shroud. I cut the hole in the metal grill cover and also in a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4 piece of 1/8 steel. I then slid the light in the cover then put the 3 1/4" square metal over the back of the light, to kind of sandwich the light between the cover and the steel square I made. Then I just tac welded the steel square to the metal light basket to keep everything from moving. The hardest part of the whole job was having my wife looking over my shoulder with a non approving snarl as I cut the black plastic grill out:D:D

RE: Dennis, installed the lower grill cover today

HOW DID YOU WIRE THEM

importkiller 07-15-2006 07:25 PM

RE: Dennis, installed the lower grill cover today

I used the power lead to the drivers side factory fog light as the switch wire for the relay. When the factory fogs come on the relay also energizes and send the full 12 volt feed to the new lights.

Yea, had yellow headlights and fogs but it was annoying on long drives, so I have blue fake HID headlights and yellow fogs now.

Well with all that hard work you could of just bought a lower grill but you did a nice job

These well integrated grille mounted lamps provide additional illumination for the road less traveled. This accessory replaces the lower grille with two 60 watt lamps within the new grille assembly and is now available in a chrome finish. Designed for off-road use only.
