dealer over filled engine oil

hey all i was at the dealer the other day for my semi anual check up and oil change i never thought to check it out before i left ( i live 135km away) and when i got home i checked the oil and it is past the measuring part on the dip stick and onto the wire part of the dip stick. i am going back there tommorow to get my new roof rails on i will have to lecture them on the hazards of over filling the oil [:@][:@]
i guess i will be doing it myself .........from now on when it leaves the dealer i will have to go over it with a fine tooth comb before any money or paper signing happens . THANX ALL for listening to my venting

That is not good. While dealers sometimes are a bit lazy, I have found it rare that they are incompetent!

I have a similar story like that azz .. my old SRT-10 .. took 11 quarts of oil on a regular change .. ended up getting my paperwork the second to last time I had it in and they had only put 8 quarts in it ... still charged me the same though ... needless to say I refused to pay until it was taken care of ... $149.99 oil changes .. for that price they BETTER BE DONE RIGHT!

If you overfilled it and had a gasket leaking - then the dealer would state it was your fault -> no warranty. But, when the dealer overfills it - it's OK. Tell them you want a freeextended warranty??? Stroke them for anything you can get. The satisfaction survey is pretty powerful. Make sure it gets documented by them that they overfilled it incase you have problems later.
