Dash rattle that's not the dash???

Although my truck is a daily driver, I'm only home 10 days out of the month. But I first noticed this "rattle" a couple months ago in the dash, sounded like it was coming right at me. It would disappear after hitting 30 or 35 mph but not it sticks around to highway speeds of 60 or 65. After trying to stablize every piece of the dash (i.e., holding or pushing it while driving) I finally noticed it was coming from the steering column. When I put pressure upwards or downwards on the steering wheel itself, the noise is gone. But I'm talking a LOT of pressure.

I've read through most of the "FRONT END RATTLE" thread but my noise isn't coming from the pedals nor can I replicate it underneath. Got a dealership 5 minutes away so I'll probably run it by there early next week, just wondering if anyone else has had this same sound/issue with a 2006 H3 Adventure.

Thanks.

RE: Dash rattle that's not the dash???

I thought mine was a dash rattle at first too but it turned out to be that stupid steering shaft. The sound resonates up through the whole dash assembly. can't wait to get that flaw fixed.
