Dash light A/C off - Help!

A light is coming up regularly on my 2007 H3 dash - A/c Off. I am aware that the A/c shuts down if the engine is overheating. However mine is not. The temp gauge drops to nothing as if the vehicle is off when this ac off light comes on. I will be driving the car and the A/c light will suddenly turn off and my air on will resume working as normal. Temp gauge returns to normal reading.

I live in a remote town in Australia so I do not have a dealer near by. I have had the vehicle hooked up to a diagnostic scanner and it is coming up with a code coolant thermostat but there is nothing wrong with the temp of my engine or coolant levels. I'm trying to diagnose whether this problem is a faulty ECT or it is the coolant thermostat before I ask someone in town to have a look at it. I have read that the thermostat and ECT do require a little bit of distance in the journey to read the coolant temp in the min and max ranges? I drive very short distances every day so I'm not sure if this has contributed to the problem. Can anyone assist??

I realise there are many similar threads on this fault and heaps of advice and theory about the problem but I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue and found the cause? It seems to be common yet I can't find anyone's final outcome on any of the similar threads.

I have the exact same issue. mine randomly goes on and off.
I read a thread somewhere where the mechanic giving advice said that it's a ECT sensor the needs to be replaced.
It be useful info. if someone post what the exact issue is, along with possible cost.

I know for a fact that if you are needing a quick a/c fix, the first option would be to unplug the battery for a moment, . .. then plug it back in. You will get some a/c for some minutes then it may go back to being faulty. that's the only solution i have found.
