Couple problems with my H3

New to this forum, looking for some advice. We bought a 2006 H3 last year and of course the warranty is now done so it's time to start spending money!
Problem #1-Lately we smell Prestone (anti-freeze) really strong inside the truck ONLY when the heat is on AND it leaves a film ONLY on the passenger side window??? I know the heater core fogs up the windshield but this doesn't?!
Problem #2-Truck has just developed a weird clicking/ticking noise in REVERSE ONLY. It sounds like it is coming from the rear middle but possibly drivers side. It sounds almost like a kids bike with plastic in the wheel but again it's only when backing up.
Would appreciate any advice before I take it in. $$$ Thanks!

I seem to remember an issue with the early model transfer case. Something about a plastic rod in there breaking. Search the forums for this and you'll find something.

Those symptoms are exactly what happens when your heater core has a leak in it. The antifreeze leaks into the duct work and into the interior, and gets vaporized from the blower, and ends up on the windows.:(

I replaced a heater core recently, and it is no small task. You have to remove the steering column, and complete dash/center console. Sorry for the bad news. If you are in NorCal I can help.

My '09 heater core went bad during a long road trip. I had it replaced (did the rest of the trip with the 2 hoses connected together to bypass it), and no more problems as you described. I'm sure your water/collant level is going down so don't let it get away from you and overheat the engine
