Default Cooling Recommendations

I drive a 2004 Hummer H2, original engine with 142,000 miles on it. I live in Reno Nevada and go back and forth from Reno to California a lot going over the Sierra Nevada mountains. Live at 4500 ft elevation and end up at 8500 ft in elevation and then back down to sea level.

I have replaced the water pump, thermostat, fan for a dual electric with a thermostat and also added the Be Cool radiator https://becool.com/products/66102

A couple of weeks ago I purchased 12 ft cargo / enclosed trailer. It ran at normal temps till the climb went to over 10% and then I ended up at 210-215 * on the engine and 210-225* on the transmission. These temp are not okay and I want it to run cooler.

We are working on ways to cause better air flow into and through the engine compartment as I think that allow would help, looking for suggestions to keep the transmission and engine running cooler?

MOVED from the HF Help & Suggestion Center..... where it says in the sticky thread at the top "Do NOT Post Vehicle Questions in this section."

Note where it also says: "Need help with Hummer Forums? Have a suggestion to better HF? Tell us here!" That section if for asking questions about how to use forum features, got nothin to do with any vehicle.

210-215 while towing is no big deal, but I am sure some H2 guys can help out.

Add in a Trans Cooler you should be fine.

Good luck.

210-215 on the engine temperature is ok if you are using the trailer ( tow mode) which you shoud use
The engine temperature will run higher than normal states the manual
Im in Fl My engine temperature is ~190°
Going up to 225° while towing the boat

As for the tranny . Temp also stay around 215° while towing
I see your truck working as it should be .

That's still very cool for the LS engines. I would not worry about it at all.
