Changing out the factory speakers and sub...
I haven't pulled anything apart yet but plan too but had questions for ones that already have done thw switch over.
1) I have the monsoon amplified system and on some their is an amp on the back of each speaker and on others their is one amp that runs the whole system, which does the 08 Hummer have.
2) What size is the sub? I believe it's a 10 but not sure
3) where are the amps or amp located/hidden
4)What is the impedence (ohms) of the speakers? In almost all car audio the speakers are a 4 ohm load but sometimes their either higher (8 ohm) or lower to (2 ohm) to get more power out of a small amp. So does anyone know what the ohm level is for the interior soeakers and sub? Just a note if they are anything but a 4ohm speaker make sure you wire them right to get the ohm load that was set by the factory speaker cause if you don't you will in a short time destroy the speakers and amp and loose sound quality. It would be like putting 100 pounds of crap in an 80 pound bag, sooner or kater it's going to pop and make a mess.
5) are thespeakers, tweeters and sub cheap paper or are they built alot better with polymere or some other quality material but my bet goes on crappy paper
So if anyone has changed over their speakers and have these answers before I start ripping my Hummer apart please let me know I would greatly appreciate it!

I measured all of the speakers with a ohm meter after I removed them. All of the door speakers are 2 ohm and are made of nothing but a paper cone. The subwoofer is a 2-0hm dual voice coil sub and is also made of paper, but more of a heavy bond paper compared to the door speakers. I replaced the door speakers with JL Audio TR650-CXi 4 ohm speakers. I replaced the subwofer with a JL Audio 8" W1V2 4 ohm sub. The subwoofer will have 2 red and 2 black wires (one set for each of the factory sub voicecoils.) I only used on red and one black to connect my JL single voice coil sub. Notes: The sound is a LOT cleaner and it sounds great. Due to using 4 ohm speakers all around you do lose power compared to the 2-ohm speakers but you get cleaner clearer sound. It's still plenty loud.
Dirty, check back tomorrow (I hope you check this post again) cause I'm out of town and don't have the time to walk you threw dropping the speakers down to a 2 ohm load to get that power back but it can easily be done and if you don't do it over time it will fry the amp. Thanks for getting me the sizes and I'll post tomorrow how you can get the load back dow to 2 ohm so you don't fry your amp.
Ok here we go, this is how to wire your speaker to get the 2 ohm load back.
if you run each set in parallel you will cause the speakers to go into a 2 ohm load even if they are 4 ohm speakers, thus increasing the power back up to where the factory amp was putting out and making the speakers even louder, cleaner and deeper.
If the sub or the speakers are dual voice coils then you have to run each voice coil in parallel to get the 2 ohm load out of the 4 ohm speaker.
I hope that helps you and you understand what I wrote if not contact me. Evan20x@yahoo.com
