It's not to bad except the oil filter and skid plate. Some people take the skid plate off, but you can do it with it on. Just use something to deflect the oil draining out of the filter away from the plate.(some use foil, paper, cardboard, small funnel.) Other than that, it's simple.......;)

Mines leased for 36 months. No syn oil to be used here. I'll just take it to Cochran and let them do their thing with it. Bar they keep it over night and take it 4 wheeling again.

8 bolts to take off the skidplate, and if they're not torqued tight enough, you'll think $hit is breaking everytime you crank the wheel. for me, it's worth the $39 to let the dealer do it. and i don't have to worry about them telling me a home oil change was the cause for mechanical failure and have them discard my warranty repairs (assuming i have a need). i've changed enough oil in my life to say i've done it, and now i can enjoy paying someone else to do it for me. you'll get different opinions here, so take them for what they're worth.
if you do change it yourself, here's how to reset the oil change computer - turn the key to run, but don't start it - press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times, quickly. key off, start the engine, computer should be reset. oh, and the skidplate bolts have a tendency to strip the holes. i've redrilled and retapped 5 of the 8 holes for the skidplate already, so be careful you don't overtighten them. . . . |
