Can Stainless Steel be Powdercoated?
I love my brushguard, that I bought from Hunter Truck Wholesale, but it has already decided to rust...really nice stainless steel...[:@][:@][:@]
I'm in the process of sending a nice email to them right now......if they do not do anything I would like to know if it is possible to powder coat stainless steel? and if there is any special process I will have to go through? |
RE: Can Stainless Steel be Powdercoated?
Yes you can powder coat SS, if it is really stainless steel they used, then whats happening is they did not passivate the stainless properly, passivation is a process where it removes all impurities from the stainless. One quick test you can do to know if it is SS is see if a magnet sticks to it, if it does, it's not SS or very bad quality.

it will be easier to take care of once it's powder coated too...

magnet test: it will not stick.....so I'm assuming it's stainless, but really cheap stainless.....
I'm not sure if I should try to powder coat it myself or bring it to a shop......how much would a shop charge? I just need an idea on the price. I can do the side pieces myself, but I don't have a big enough oven to bake the center section....... |

they wanted 20 bucks for a gas cap, so im guessing somewhere arond 100-150

You should get it coated, I have the Chrome Package and I bought the Black Brush Guard, the contrast between the two really makes it standout.
