First, to the best of my knowledge, there are no speakers located above your head in an H2. There are only cabin temp sensors and the microphone for the OnStar system for hands free calling.

As far as the buzzing symptom, my first guess is that you might have a bad ground to the microphone, or its just gone completely out. One way to chack this is to open up the headliner and disconnect the microphone and recheck your system to see if the buzzing sound stops. If it does cease, it was the microphone, if the sound continues its some other component.

In the old days, a whining sound used to come over the stereo system that was due to the alternator. A resistor was added to stop the sound.

Also the air temp sensor is supposed to have a small fan inside it to suck in cabin air for accurate readings. I suppose if the bearing in that small fan went bad it could make a bunch of noise.

That air temp sensor on my 2004 H2 was buzzing. I took it out oiled the bushings on the fan and it has been whisper quiet ever since. So, it could be that.

Mine did the same thing, it was the air temp sensor that looks like a speaker grill above your head. the bearings in the fan were bad so it sounded like static from a speaker all the time. easy to change out .
