Buying a H3 Need advice
Hi Everyone,
I am a potential buyer in CA and currently I am looking for 3 different H3. 1) 2007 H3, 125k mileage for $11500 It looks clean in and out. Also check carfax no major repair. 2) 2007 H3, 190k mileage for $7000 Has minor damage on the bumper but still with clean title. I checked the car and no frame damage. Interior seems worn but very cosmetic should be easy fix. 3) 2006 H3, 88k mileage for $14500 It is a FL car and carfax shows lots of things get replaced (radiator, cylinder head, electrical stuff etc). Car is SUPER clean in and out. Background: i have my daily car so this is second car and is really for fun since I am a Hummer fan since high school. Question: I was thinking of #2 because I probably will replace the engine (for $4k ?) so the car should be good as new? I do worry if i get #1 & #3 what if the engine break down i might need to spend the same amount of money to fix the engine. Can anyone give me some more information about reliability and cost of replacement? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help. |
Sorry to mention, all of them are 3.5 or 3.7 v6 base model

#2 is about used up. #3 is a 2006, the lowest market value and least HP/TQ. I'd be looking at #1. |

I know 2006 was well known of the header issue. Is there anything specific I should check for 2007? Thank you again for your advice. |
I'd personally keep looking. These are not the best choices as they all have a bit of milage on them lol. You can find better!
But hey your mileage may vary. I'd pick an 07 H3 before the 06. Got 1st hand experience with both. Chris |
I would go with #2 since it's not your daily. I would bring a trusted mechanic to check out #2 if you do plan on buying it.

I'd avoid #3 (already has alot of repairs, what's next?), and #2 because of the high mileage; everything is worn (out?), not just the engine & interior. Oh, and don't put too much stock into the CarFax; many things don't show up.

Thank you everyone for the input. I might want to try check the condition for #1 and try to see if any price reduction in #2.
If #2 able to lower to $5~6k, is it good to buy? |
