Buying 08 H3 Alpha on Friday
 

Hi guys first post here!

I've always wanted a hummer, and found an 08 H3 Alpha with 30k miles I'm going to be looking at on Friday. If everything is good, I'm buying it.

For some of you owners out there, is there anything I can look out for, or check before signing on the dotted line? Are there any major issues that crop up that I should be aware of or look out for?

Not really anything noteworthy, no. You can check for piston slap thats prevalent in the Alpha's; but other than that, just do a quick over, check fluids, and sign those papers. Anything that happens to come up will be covered by the excellent warranty.

I own an '08 Alpha.....THIS MEMBER DOES NOT! :mad:. Piston slap was NOT PREVALENT! There was ONE reported case on this forum, so don't let that deter you from your purchase. This is the best vehicle I've ever owned!:D

You are obviously not well-versed in GM v8's. This forum and CHO are LITTERED with threads of people with piston slap. Some cases so bad the motor sounds like a damn diesel. And it's not just HUMMER's... GM v8's have had piston slap since the mid '90's. Piston slap isn't exactly bad; at all. But to many people, it's loud annoying and even embarassing.

We love our '08 H3 Alpha. No piston slap. Just smiles all around.

i followed a link to see just WHAT it was and it went on and on. funny others dont seem to have it.
i had a 4 banger mustang that made a racket, dont know what,,

it dont seem to shut gm down, made a lotta v8s

course with tax money they can build anything now and the feds will just buy them up,,,with our money,,funny huh??

the sad thing,h3 down to 119 or less and going out. no update on that in 3 days,,??

hey btw whats the origin of the 5.3 v8, which block. i think its std pushrod huh??

one thing for sure, the 3.7 i5 is awsome technology compared to any engine ive seen, like space age
