black smoke, lots of it
New to the forum, wondering how much smoke is too much. During acceleration i am dumping it big time. All black.
it most likely is the load from the new tires, just wondering if there is a fix.
o2 sensors?
any help is appreciated.

I would say regear for those super tall tires. The engine is under a tremendus load and dumping in all the fuel it can causing that black smoke. Also, ensure that your fuel and air filters are clean. Other than that, there isn't much you can do short of putting on a turbo to incease the air flow. All a chip will do is add more fuel.
Any modifications made to the injection pump? Sounds like you are running way too rich.
Without gearing changes in the diffs or transmission, those 52's have no business being on your truck... were any gears changed?
Any chance someone took a shortcut to try and cheat more power by dialing up your fuel delivery?

Looks like your engine is using too much fuel as it should ("running rich") and as such, excess fuel may be entering the combustion chamber. Possible problem with fuel injection and an overdue tune-up could cause such.
There isn't much to tune up on a diesel. They get fuel and air and that's it. The injection is either mechanical or electronic, neither system wears very fast, and the electronic system can compensate for wear. With 52 inch tall tires, unless the engine is built to the hilt to make gobbs more power, or the drive train is regeared to handle the taller tires, the engine is going to be under tremendous load which will cause excessive smoking. Afterall, the tires are 15 inches taller then stock.
i was getting black smoke on start up and as I accellerated but just thought it was normal for a diesel... then I recently tooked my rig into the shop for a stalling out/starting up issue and they told me that my Diesel Injector pump was going...and the bearings on my vacum was shot so when I got those 2 things fixed on my rig there is very little to no black smoke now... which kinda sucked I kinda liked the black smoke... after all if it dont blow black send er back!!!!
but yea id suggest getting those 2 things looked at could be either or....
