The Beach

Hey All...

I have been a Land Rover/Jeep person for the last 20 years - I still have a 04 LR Discovery. I recently purchased the H3 and within the first hour of driving it I ran it on the beach.

I was QUITE impressed the torque is excellent. I was nervous with the 5 cyl, but I was very happy on the beach.

The funny thing - The question I get asked most of all is "You're taking that on the beach????" Kind of funny what has happened to the perception of off-road vehicles... seem to be predetermined "soccer mom cars".

I will post pictures when I get a chance......

Bye Bye Land Rover..... New Hummer Guy

Welcome to our Forum. And, yes, we all know about that whole soccer mom thing. I hear it ALL the time. "Why would you want to go off-roading with it when it looks so nice?" and I say " I don't care about the looks, that's my wife's thing, I care about the manly man things it can do!"

Good to see another LR addict come out into the open a claim he's been cured of the green oval sickness.

Welcome!

If I were you I'd take that loaner to the beach and also out on dirt....find out what the H3's limits are...better do it on the loaner first so that you know what to expect with your H3 when it finally arrives.

Just my 2 centavos.

Cool, and welcome from another short timer. We took ours to the beach less than 24 hours after driving it off the lot.

Here it is now, 6 weeks later. Not much has changed, but slowly things will take shape.

Good call on the dirt:D (Even though I have been "google earthing" the unpaved routes home from work)....this rig is awesome! My fiancee now wants one and wonders why my 25 minute commute sometimes takes upwards of an hour! His Dad just bought one after driving my loaner.....My dealer owes me big time ;)

I must say - I do miss the Land Rovers - had 3 over the last several years - My wife kept the 04 and I sold the 2000 when I bought the H3...

Funny story... When test driving I brought the H3 off road with the sales guy... he was a bit nervous which led me to believe he was a new sales person... any way he asked what I would do if we got stuck... I said I wouldn't buy it...

Anyway - I bought it...

Ain't that the truth. I drove Monteros for many years...they had lockers 20 years ago. Slowly all the tough 4x4 SUVs morphed into AWD wooos-wagons. Now that Hummer has brought back the original SUV idea (practical, offroadable, and comfortable) with the H3, I sure hope they can keep the GM marketing types from mucking it up.
