Battery Light comes on during acceleration
I have a problem that just started yesterday on the way home from work. I was on the tollway doing about 65 and noticed on the DIC the message, "Battery Not Charging".
The battery indicator dropped to below 14 and the battery light came on. I slowed down and after a minute the light went off, indicator went up pass 14 and the DIC message was gone. But when I accelerate, everything comes back on. Driving on the street, no problem. Only on acceleration. Just got a replacement battery last year from the dealer and a new alternator about 2 years ago. Anyone have ideas or the same problem with a solution? |
Maybe a ground strap from the motor to the firewall or chassis somewhere has a corroded connection? When the engine twists a bit on the mounts it could be pulling a ground loose is my thinking on that.

I would clean and tighten the battery cables first.

Check all of the above and then check the alternator. If they are failing they will cut out as rpm's increase.

I limped to my nearest Cadillac dealer and turns out it was the alternator. I just had it replaced in 2015 but it was a reman. This time I'm paying extra for a Delco.
