So, three of you have insured me that the main headlights are the DRL's. I guess should go with that. Does that mean the smaller white lights are fog lights only?
Yes, the smaller white lights are fog/driving lights only.

Yes, the 06 DRL's were the amber lamps in the turn signal housing but in 2007 they changed it to a headlight DRL like most other GM vehicles. They are the same light as the headlight but the current is run through a resistor to reduce the wattage thus making the lamps appear dimmer. If you don't like them on just pull the fuse under the hood and they'll go away.

You can also just turn the **** selectorto the left to the"O" postion = OFF and the lights turn off.

Thanks, Otto. So I can take out the fuse for the DRL function and the headlights will still work automatically and correctly?

I really dislike having to turn the stupid lights off every time I start my truck. This should be OFF by default in the USA, this is not Canada, eh?

As for the DRL fuse, it ONLY affects the DRL and has NO effect on the headlights whatsoever, except it'll make your bulbs last longer since they're only on at night now. The fuse is clearly marked in the fusebox under the hood.

I kinda liked the early 06 models that had the amber turn signals on as the DRLs - I think they changed due to some states having laws about the color or placement (i.e. in the turn signal) for the DRLs...too bad.
