AMP Powersteps Problem
 

Anyone with AMP powersteps having problems with your steps not going all the way up in cold weather? i've been using wd-40 in the joints and it worked the first time. a month passed no problems.. now it doesn't seem to do the trick.. any ideas?.. the motor sounds fine.

Don't have them, however I know a couple guys that do... They wheeled with theres and pretty much sealed theyre fate... They either bent them and or got debris (mud and gunk) lodged in the joints... Makes me smile when I think about STLTHBUL (Pete) smacking the piss out of his w/ a BFH in Wharton when they started to give him fits... Sorry I don't have any good suggestions, maybe hit it w/ some PB Blaster (stronger than WD-40) and than some 2 in 1 oil for lube...?

You need to use a Lubricant (oil). WD-40 is a penetrating oil but it dries up and becomes ineffective as a lube.
Try using some oil like Dan suggested.

Most Powersteps that I have seen have stopped working smoothly because they had gotten bent.
And I was there to see Pete beat the crap out of his to get them to retract.

I agree with these guys. WD-40 is over 50% SOLVENT, only 15% lubricant, and i never use it on anything ever. Good for cleaning, for chit in the lubrication department. BTW what you described is how WD-40 always works, good the first time because it cleans and dissolved dried grease and cuts crud, later it also cuts its own lube and then you are left with something worse than what you started with, so you use more, more, and more...... then you figure out what it is.

There are many significantly better products available today.

PB Blaster is one, about the same solvent, but about twice the lubricant, same with Liquid Wrench.... which is actually better on busting fasteners free per independent tests.

For more lube, less cleaning, I use CRC Power Lube, low (wintergreen) odor, does not stain, improves electrical contacts, and displaced moisture, and lubes. IMHO the shizzle.

thanks for the info :) the pb blaster did the trick in literally minutes....i didn't find the power lube.. but ill such around for something similar. i definitely need to maintain the fate i sealed
