That may be because GR is asking about the cost of a replacement motor, and not a foray into custom motor swaps?

IMHO I would never go to the steelership and put in a new 3.5 in an 06 (out of warranty), unless you plan on driving that same truck for about the next 15 years. I would instead work a deal with theBroken (Brodie) and have a reputable local shop do the install. He is the man to find you a low miles used replacement motor or any other damn H3 part you can think of.

Loosing oil pressure in and of itself did not cause your motor to eat a rod, rather it was the other way round. I have been driving more than one GMC when the oil cooller lines (remember when the GM oil line crimp recall was on in the mid 90s) let go and the motor lost all its oil immediately causing no damage in the time it took to pull over and shut down. 1.5 Qts low is no biggy by itself. So, if it makes you feel any better, chit happens, and it did to you on that day.

I agree with Doc.... you lose pressure when the bearing starts to go and the clearance goes from .001 to .010 for example.

Did you call your agent?

Wynter,

I can also set up a case for you if you would like. . In order to do so, I will need some more specific information from you. If you could please send me your full name, address, phone number, the VIN for the vehicle, current mileage, and dealer name via private message, I will be able to take further steps. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you.

Tricia, GM Customer Service.

Don't forget your bank account routing information and social security numbers so she can secure the four 2006 H1 Alpha's in your name that belonged to the late Prince Shambulu of Nigeria.
