Helps if you can tell us what year you have, do you have the OffRoad package, what cab lights are you speaking of (clearance lights (5 of them) or OffRoad lights (2 of them))?

They come on automatically when it gets dark along with your other lights, at least that's what my Alpha does. Just keep the knob in the auto position directly in the middle.

If you want them on and its not dark, turn the knob all the way to the right, but you will have to turn it back when exiting the vehicle or they will stay on.

Don't worry, the H3 will yell at you and go "DING DING DING DING" until you move the knob back after removing the key. :D

Mine don't do that... I have tried everything dark or light they won't come on. Anyone else? The manual says there is a button below the climate control but I don't have any button there I see where 2 blanks are but no buttons.

The manual states that the switch is for the OffRoad cab lights (2 OffRoad lights mounted in pods with covers). Clearance lights will be wired so they come on with the parking lights and/or driving lights. Hence no switch is involved.

Did your girlfriend/you try to see if it was a blown fuse? Not sure where the fuse is since I'm not sure if they were installed by the dealer or not. The wires should come down the under the plastic cover for the A pillar on the drivers side. Pop off the vent cover on the drivers side and see if you can follow that wire to it's power source connection. Poss. @ the fuse block (dealer install) or under the dash (backyard mechanic).

Nope, clearance lights/OffRoad cab lights/nurf bars/brush guards/OEM rock rails/etc are all Dealer installed options.

The manual page you have clearly states "OffRoad lights" you have clearance lights. I explaind the difference between them in post #6.

This is what the roof mounted "OffRoad lights" look like:
