alignment question
Hey all,
I am curious about something.
I have aftermarket wheels and tires and a lifetime alignment with Firestone.
After I got the wheels and tires put on my truck, Firestone told me there was no way they could align the wheels because the wheels don't have a lip to mount their sensors....
So everytime I get my wheels aligned I have to bring the old wheels and tires down there for them to mount and align, then remount the wheel/tire setup.
Ok, I know people are going to say well it is better to have the wheels and tires you drive on aligned, but this is the way it has to be according to Firestone.
So my question is...
Do you need to have tires on the wheels to have the wheels aligned?
The reason I am asking is because I have to load up all 4 wheels with 33s in the back, and though they fit... eventually the tires I am sure will get dry rot. So I don't really want to buy new tires for wheels that I don't use but maybe once of twice a year to do nothing more then to align the setup.
I also tried to ask them to do the alignment with the rear wheels since the rear wheels are not able to be aligned/adjusted.... but they explained that their alignment sensors need to be on all four wheels to work....
so I am wondering if I can just have them mount the old wheels without tires... since I thought they put the car on a machine and hen adjusting, the car is lifted on jacks... though I am not 100% on that
