AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
Has anyone had aproblem with the air ride suspension on the H2?? My compressor will kick on but will not pump up the rear. Hummer dealer says it needs a new compressor at $2300 for parts and labor. Has anyone else had this problem??? It seems like alot of money for an air compressor.
I told the dealership to fix it, so I was just wondering if anyone had thoughts or problems with theirs. I have a 03. THANKS |
RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
I don't have the air suspension in mine so I can't say. But Welcome to the forums.:)

RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
haven't had problems with it yet, but EVERYTHING on hummers is expensive to fix.

RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
If the compressor kicks on, you may just have leaky air bags or hoses???
|
RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
leaky airbags does seem possible.
hey alan, i've seen your truck on the web somewhere or other. have you ever had those coopers on the rocks - like moab or something? i'm looking fora new tire, and considering those. |
RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
No problems with the air bags but they do kick on a lot. It seems like they are constantly adjusting the ride height.

RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
You can buy a new compressor assembly on ebay for $399.

RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
Yes. Just watch Ebay and you can get a real deal on them.

RE: AIR RIDE SUSPENSION
yeh in the 03 the compressor is different. the one they install will be different. i work at a hummer dealer. 2300 seems like a lot when the part just breaks a grand i think. if not less then that.

It sounds to me like you have a hole or cracks in your airbag. The dealership typically diagnoses it as the compressor but that is only to keep you coming back and wasting more money on something that will never truly be fixed. The airbag is the problem now but when this happens What probably happened the compressor has to work extra hard because it is like blowing up a balloon with a hole in it. Therefor the airbag will kill the compressor. I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. This is a PERMANENT fix and ALOT cheaper than going to the dealership. I added the link below so you can check it out.
