When it turns red the air is restricted to the point that you have pressure buildup....
Like Chris said... if it is red you waited too long....
K&N sucks.... I wouldn't put a K&N on a yugo.... don't believe me... put something like a coffee filter on the inside and see what it looks like...
I just replaced mine.... the meter was green... the filter was black... Napa Gold 6889 Lists for $129.79
I also bought a cabin air filter... Napa 4814 lists for $42.48
