Default Air Doc intake with a 1" body lift ???

Question brought up in another thread. Let's discuss it here -
Has anyone done a 1 inch body lift with an aftermarket intake installed? Wondering if it needs any modifications or adjustments...

I am specifically interested how a future 1" body lift would impact the AirDoc intake that is already installed in my 2007

Pretty sure Geno has an Air Doc in his H3T

*edit,
Pretty sure you have seen his H3T John at RC. Its red, Rancho Lift, 35" Mickey Thompson MTZ, Thorparts Bumpers Front & Rear, Daystar Body Lift, Safari Snorkel, etc.

I don't see how it would affect anything other than trying to get the coupler to line up with the fender once those 1" pucks get installed between the frame (holds the driveline) and body (the hole in the fender thing). I am not sure of the airdoc particulars as I went the O'Reillys parts route, but maybe just a change to a longer or more flexible coupler would do it?

The air filter box is mounted to the right wheelhouse assembly and the air intake inlet passes through the right upper fender rail, all attached to the body, so no issue there.

The alignment change is between the air box outlet and the throttle body.

I can't speak for every market intake, but some will indicate that they will not fit with a body lift. Since we are only talking about only a 1" body lift, the I5s should have no significant problem. In fact the body lift actually creates more clearance between the coil on plug pack and the intake pipe.

Alphas, more of an issue, but should be alright. However, until I see a body lifted Alpha with our Air Doc Intakes, I will err on the side of caution.

At a minimum, one thing that should be done when doing any body lift is to loosen the coupler clamps to allow the intake to be flexible enough to move when the body lift is being installed. Once the body lift is in place, revisit the intake and make sure everything is capable of making a seal, and then snug the clamps back in place.

I have seen other trucks with 2-3" body lifts, and intakes will usually need modification for that much increased body height.

Yes he does, forgot about that one. Thanks.

Maybe if we ask real nice, he would post up an underhood pic??

Thanks Doc, you read my mind. As I was doing the upgrade I was looking around to see what was involved in the lift. As soon as I took the air box out I realized that may be an issue. I did play around a bit before I tightened everything up and it looked like it would fit. It just looked like the angle changed. There seemed to be plenty of room in the couplers to make up the distance if needed. I was not 100% sure though, so I figured I would see if anyone had done it yet.

Because I intend to do the body lift, I had also been asking about the electric fan option. I was ordering the PCM upgrade and was not sure if I was going to cut the shroud or just go with Efan. I got my answer. 2006 and 2007 use a sensor that needs to be installed, so PCM does not control it. 2008 and up the PCM controls the Efan.

Geno, we'll all want to take a look under the hood at the RC April run.

My guess is MUTAINT will have an answer to that pretty soon

I like my Efan.

You have the above correct, the Efan alleviates the shroud to fan clearance issue.

Now if I could just read my wife's mind.
