Aggressive driving?
Since we got our H3 two weeks ago, I've noticed an increase in aggressive driving directed towards our Hummer; tailgaiting, cutting us off, etc. Today some idiot in an old Ford Escort tailgated us, swirving from side to side (were we supposed to be intimidated by this????).
Has anyone else noticed these kinds of behaviors? |
RE: Aggressive driving?
not in Jersey.... that's how we all drive...

RE: Aggressive driving?
They are just jealous. Hold your head hi and just wave.:D:D

RE: Aggressive driving?
That's pretty much what I do, just smile at them and wave. Seems to tick them off even more :D

RE: Aggressive driving?
You could just hit the brakes and let the escort go under you. Haven't noticed anything like that when I got mine.
|
RE: Aggressive driving?
Could be you are a little more protective/sensitive about your new Hummer. Most people scramble to get out of my way.

RE: Aggressive driving?
I got brake checked twice in a row by a small green Toyota a few months ago. I dialed 911 to report it and by some karmic design as a cruiser was passing me on my left the little green Toyota braked checked me again and he was pulled over.
Fines are pretty steep in Atlanta for aggressive driving. |
RE: Aggressive driving?
I get that all the time here...welcome to the club
|
RE: Aggressive driving?
Glad the POS got caught. Hope they fine his a$$ bigtime.
|
RE: Aggressive driving?
I get a lot of tailgaters which I hate. However I just let off the gas and drive even slower, then when they pass I killem with kindness (just smile and wave)

RE: Aggressive driving?
Yep......Just picked up my new H3 this afternoon!!And a funny thing on the65 mile drive home.......either I'm paranoid - or - whatever......couldn't help but notice at least3 cars that would have hooked up to my receiver if they could. Traffic was light....People are nuts I suppose.....Hummer Envy??

RE: Aggressive driving?
Blew my air horns at a dumb*** in a Prius this weekend that was blocking traffic at the mall. He got out of of his wind-upcar like hewanted to do me harm, but his wife yelled at him & told him to get back in the car!! It was pretty funny :)

RE: Aggressive driving?
Just hit the brakes. A little bug remover will clean the back end.

RE: Aggressive driving?
Man I'm with you. I had the same feeling several times in the first couple of months. Chalked it up too being overly sensitive.

RE: Aggressive driving?
The same thing happened to me when I first got my H3 2.It seemed 2 stop when I got my first K&N...

RE: Aggressive driving?
We live in Germany and the normal german drives very fuel efficient cars to preserve the environment. So many of them don't like the Hummer as a gas guzzler. And the fact that we always need a bit more than one parking spot makes them upset too. But we don't care because we love driving our H3 which is really rare here in Europe.

RE: Aggressive driving?
you don't know hatred until you try driving around Berkeley with a Hummer. I have not been more verbally abused in my life.
If they were intelligent and well-read they would realize that the Hummer is far from the worst gas consuming car. Take for instance the Ford Excursion. Also, the new Pria that is supposed to be the "most fuel efficient vehicle" IS NOT AT ALL! Since they have such a small gas tank and use a battery, they fill up more often than regular cars and when the batery needs to be disposed of, it is put into a landfill to contaminate the land. Did I mention that the shipment of the batteries to and from the US for termination requires so much gasoline from the freight liners that the car is actually WORSE than driving a reguar vehicle. I would rather have exhaust than batteries stacked to decay any day of the week. As for my Hummer, it runs off of Iraqi blood... (a joke people) |
RE: Aggressive driving?
I notice a lot of "close stoppers" at lights. I chalk it up to the car version of dogs smelling each other's arses I guess.

RE: Aggressive driving?
I got no idea what you all are talking about. In Detroit, if it's American made, they don't give a twisted rat's balls what it is you're driving.
On the otherhand, if you are driving in the left lane (fast lane) and won't get over to the slow lane/pass the guy next to you, you would be a dipchit no matter what you're driving. My Hummer is slow, I stay out of the fast lane except to pass, wish everyone else (Hello you morons in FL and IL [:@]) knew there was such a concept!!!! ;) This also goes for the dipstick in the Black H3 on EB I 94 near Battlecreek MI on my way back from Chicago on 7/8/07!!! :D |
RE: Aggressive driving?
Every moron driving some piece of **** thinks they need to pass me
|
RE: Aggressive driving?
I have now had my 2007 H3 for 4 days, and yes people seem to mess with it more than usual; but that's really nothing new, I am used to commuting on a crotch rocket. In the H3 I just stay in a lane that is doing the same speed I am. 4700 pounds of curb weight usually makes most threats only that unless you are provoking people. :)

RE: Aggressive driving?
I guess I have been a little paranoid about people driving a little too close to my new H3 in traffic. I think it's because I'm not used to the vehicle and haven't gotten the feel for the size and height yet, so I am not judging distances as well. I HATE tailgaters, and with my rear window so high, and the spare blocking a little of my view, it seems to make things worse. When I can't see the headlights of the car behind me, they are TOO CLOSE. I usually slow down and flash my brake lights at them until they get the idea.
But the biggest thrill I had was the look of envy I got from some guy getting out of his Lexus SUV as I was driving past him. Made my day! -- Frank |

RE: Aggressive driving?
i find when you are in the vascinity of someone with another kind of truck especially the ones that are fixed up, they always floor it and rap their exhaust out to the max with wheels spinning to try and get peoples attention to them rather than the hummer :D:D:D
