I just purchased an 08 H3 Alpha, but I did not get the Trailering package. I want to get a hitch, and after searching, I found the Trailer hitch FAQ. It talks about the 4 Pin plug, but not the 7. I may tow a few things that require the 7 pin. Is there an adapter or way to have a 7 pin connector with the aftermarket hitch? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any auto parts store will have the adapters you need. You will just need to wire in the trailer brakes.

 

an adapter will not give you a true, functioning 7pin -- since a true 7pin has trailer brake power. If you want to add a true 7pin after the fact, you have to get a little box for the trailer brakes in the front, as well as a power line to go from the front of the truck to the back, as one isn't standard if you don't get the hitch. It's a pain, I know..

 

Darn Brian, I didn't know that the stock trailer kit provided power to a trailer brake! See, that's why I read these forums, you learn something new every week.
