I got my cyl #2 misfire( YAYAYAYA) 59grand on the money.

So i was talking to the tecs at the dealership and theytold me that it would be a 4g repair to fix my h3. So i was thinking of going to a v8. Does anyone have any input or advice on this.

1. Will the stock drivetrain hold up to a LS motor
2 where can I get a h3Alfa V8? and is it the same drive train.

thanks
all
Chris

As you said, the V8 in the alpha is just an LS series 5.3L. You can order them directly from GM or maybe a salvage yard might have one. As far as the powertrain- the 4L60-E auto is pretty stout and so is the 5-speed Aisin unit so I wouldn't have any worries there. No, what I would worry about is the frame rails. To shoehorn the SB in they had to widen the frame, so I don't know if it would be a simple drop in kinda deal. What I would do is get the 3.7L Atlas and mod it. With forced induction, you would be able to get 300hp very easily and it would be streetable. Not to mention it would get better gas mileage, weigh less and seriously- have you ever heard a turbo I-5 with a nice exhaust? Just youtube the Audi S-1

is there any one who can list the price on line for 5.3. I woudl rather just get one out of the box drop it in and call it a day? Turbo was something i was thinking about I have a 400whp wrx. I just dont want to go that way with my h3. i want to keep her stock just get a little more out of her. If i have to go all out i will and just drop a ls motor in there. If a 5.3 will drop right in i will just that way.

if you point me someone online that might beable to get me a deal that would be great.

what are you gonna do for the tranny if it did fit?

The V8 is not a drop in/bolt up fit for an I5 H3. The H3 Alpha is an LH8, not an LS, different oil pans.

Why the $$ for the repair? It is a warranty item. And what exactly is it the steelership says needs fixin? A misfire can be some simple stuff, or you might have to pull the head. Even if you had to replace the head, it isn't any where near $4K parts and work.

I could do it with hand tools in a few hours.

They are tell me that they are not going to cover it and I will need to pay for everything. They said with parts and labor that it would be about 4 grand to make all the needed fixed.

I can get you a 3.7l I5 for the H3 with very little miles on it, Im sure after shipping and labor you will be well under 4g.
