37" Military tires???
1 Attachment(s)
I want to throw on 37" military tires on my I5 H3. How much of a lift will I have to give my H3 so the 37" inch tires fit. Also since the tires are 37 inches will I have to do any modifications to the H3, other than a lift? The dimensions of the tire I'm looking at are 37x12.5R16.5

35's fit with no lift though they fill the wells. Given that, I'd say a 2" to 4" would probably work. You do understand that you need 16.5" wheels to even mount those tires, right?

you may want to think about some power adders long before putting on 37s.
ultimately you could get away with leveling the front and adding a 1-2 inch body lift, that would be the cheapest way to fit 37s. To have those 37s and have the truck function you are looking at a lot of money, a couple grand for a suspension lift, soe serious money sunk into the engine for power, the cost of the tires, most likely custom made wheels, and the added expense of future replacement of tie rods, ball joints, etc in your driveline from the added stress of that big of a tire. also I'm not sure those tires are radials, my guess would be they are bias ply. unless this is not your daily driver, almost ever, and you have a bottomless ank account it is not that realistic to go this route. |
does anyone make a 2in body lift? i couldn't find one.

The info posted here is correct. There is one member on another forum who put these on his H2. They are awesome tires and wheels.
But yes the rim is a 16.5" meaning you can get dirt cheap military tires as surplus but once those dry up you'll spend over $2,500 in just rubber to buy them retail. Also those rims are built for 8-lug and have a deep backspace. Not to mention weight, not sure how powerful the I5 is but I know all my dad did was piss and moan about his when he had it years ago. These tire/rim combo's I believe weight in at 172 lbs per tire so that's a significant amount of added weight. |

Forget this idea.
The tires are too heavy and you will destroy the H3's drivetrain. All while not being able to get out of your own way. The I5 does not have enough power to handle them. |
Appreciate the input guys but I've decided to go with the 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers instead.
