Take your time if you not hungry in these tough times for some ppl.
The right person will pay you the $40k for it.
Try it on the international market.
A good friend of mine who ships used German cars and fast Camaros, chargers and challengers overseas gets triple the price here.
Told me if I ever wanted to rid of mine $75k give and take.

Thanks - absolutely in no hurry. My wife has been eyeing the new EV which is what brought this on. I'm of the mind that I just spent a bunch of money working on it so we should hold it for a couple more years. So if the right offer comes along great, but if not, no worries.

Yes it is. Just replaced the stereo head unit - the aftermarket unit I put in in 2018 was glitching and I added a unit with wireless car play.

Ended up buying my wife a Defender - so this is now just garaged as an occasional use car. I know at this stage I can't get $35-40K for it (probably without doing further work on it) - but I'm willing to part with it for a real offer. Most I've been offered by a dealer / CarMax is ~$15K.

It does not matter what you spent on it, it is worth what somebody will pay you for it. Like what KBB says for where you are.

Good luck

carmax or carmob know what they doing and using only the printed trade prices as in the KBB.
Vehicles like most us keep their hummers mostly are more worth than the market value.
You doing the right thing and just wait for the right buyer.
Few weeks ago I just helped a guy from Houston who had is H2 on a FB hummer group where most of them lowballed him.
I had some contacts that were kinda looking and I got him $6K over his asking price.
Now the H2 is on it’s way to Spain, Europe.

Whats interesting, Last time I check KBB they did not list a price for H2's. There really gets a big value swing. I think until the economy and the car market stabilized again its as Doc say's only worth what you can get for it. I definitely would not trust Carmax, Carvana, or for that any new car dealer to offer you an even remotely fair offer. So do your homework as best you can then listing it on as many sites as you can and waiting until you get what you want or just get tired of waiting. It's not like it was a couple of years back, people are not waiting with baited breath waiting for one to drop.

EXACTLY, the purple color is killing the resale. That is a very narrow and specific buyer pool.
The black paint under the wrap is multiple times more desirable and will open up the buyer pool.

Not many buyers want to take the time and expense to remove the wrap. The chances of finding damaged paint (clear coat) underneath after it has been wrapped for 6+ years increases also.
"
Leaving a wrap on for too long—typically beyond 5 years—can increase the risk of paint damage. Over time, the adhesive in the vinyl hardens, making it more difficult to remove without affecting the clear coat. Regular inspection and timely removal are essential to preserving the paint."

you can look at what people are selling them for on sites like cargurus. it also shows what the latest price trends are fo a specified vehicle.

Without a doubt Black would be much more desirable then the Purple. Obviously did the owner you purchased it from know the condition of the paint underneath before it was wrapped? Phoenix gets really hot and I have no idea what wraps do to clear coat nor do I have any idea what it would cost to strip it back to factory black paint.

I am positive a good wrap shop could answer all those questions. I have a feeling the dealership already knew the answer on how much money they would have to throw at it to put it back to black, add in the mileage and they just didn't want to screw with it. If this was back in 2022 it might have been worth the extra cash to put into it but H2's have dropped a good 10 to 20 thousand. The economy, rising fuel costs and everyone tight wallet have somewhat killed them. Bottom line, either just use it as an extra vehicle and maybe next year prices might recover a bit or list it and take what you can get out of it.
Considering it has good condition interior and a new engine with only 11k plus its an 09 with flex fuel (and the last production year of the H2) in its current form I would say your looking approx $10-15k as is. If it was back to black and was 100% factory it would be worth an easy 20k. Not trying to be insulting just wanting to help. Best of luck to you.
