2005 H2 Driver Handle Replacement - Can't Find Rod Diagram?
Hey all! First time poster, good half~ a year lurker. Finally pulled the trigger on an 05 H2 with around 190k. Wasn't exactly what I was hoping to find for my H2 dream car, but there just wasn't a lot out there without taking a trip across the state and then some. I'm honestly pretty happy with the overall state of the vehicle, the interior was in remarkably good condition compared to the half dozen H2's I looked at, previous owner seemed to have taken care of it maintenance wise and the body is amazingly lacking for rust (Michigan).
One of the stand out issues the seller pointed out was that the door handle wouldn't open the door from the inside occasionally, and you'd have to pop the door from the outside handle. This didn't seem like it'd be a huge issue at the moment, but I'm in the middle of doing a good bit of other improvements (leaking roof lights/replacing faded headlights/etc) so I figured I would just kill this bird now before winter comes around and "just roll down the window and use the exterior door" might not be as viable an option with frost.
After removing the door panel cover I noticed a piece of blue rod fall out of the door, and after about 15 seconds realized it was part of the door handle spring. After taking off the bolt holding the interior handle to the door I went to pop out the rod inside the door handle and the rod detached from inside the door as soon as I went to move the handle to try to pop the rod at the handle. Now I have absolutely no idea where this rod hooks in, I was trying to find some diagrams of the interior assembly but google wasn't turning anything up, and amazingly YouTube has screw all for H2 Door replacements/repairs, which I thought was crazy because in all my time lurking these forums and the Hummer subreddit I saw quite a few posts about having to repair door mechanisms. I might have to break a camera out when I get the new handle in just so it's out there for future people.
Anyways, the question I have is, does anyone know where to find a diagram that shows where this damn rod hooks into inside the door? Or picture, I thought I saw a spot that seemed to hook into it where the exterior door rod has a big yellow "clip", but after seating the rod there it didn't seem to have any motion when trying to give the interior rod a tug so I figured that must not be the correct spot.
Thanks for any help - and apologies that my first post here as a H2 owner is "halp broke a thing" and not "look at my baby drinking at the pump"
